Teenage Hoodlums

Hey everyone! Elder Horsley here back to report on another week! And I'm sending this one early in the day instead of with 5 minutes left to write emails, so this one may blow all of my other emails out of the water! Or maybe not it still probably won't be very long. It feels like my emails get shorter and shorter every week. NEWS: - On Monday we knocked on the door of someone who we thought was a member, but it turns out she definitely was NOT. It was like 7:50 PM and she looked out the door and yelled "GET OFF MY PORCH OR I'M CALLING THE COPS". So I got to check that one off of my bucket list. - On Wednesday we had a super awesome lesson with one of our friends named Denise, and the Spirit was so strong! She has had a hard time building up the courage to come to church, but during the lesson she said "wow I should start coming to church". I was like "YES", so at the end I invited her to church. She said maybe and then I testified of the b...

GOOD MORNING DAVID

Hey everyone! We had another great week this week! It was kind of weird because a lot of appointments fell through, but hopefully we can reestablish contact with our friends this next week. Please be praying for them! And please be praying for them to come to church! They have a hard time with that one, which makes Elder Horsley pull his hair out and pray so much because he just wants to help these people get into the celestial kingdom but they're like "actually nah". But it's OK! I have faith in all of them, and we're going to keep working with them to get them to make and keep commitments! But we'll get into the highlights of the week! - Apparently I'm a good target when it comes to random high schoolers asking for my phone number, considering it happened a couple of times this week. Always really awkward when I tell them I don't actually go to a private school and I'm dressed nice because I'm a missionary for my church. For some reason it a...

I'm In

Hey everyone! This week was awesome! We had so much fun teaching and finding and riding bikes and finding out that it does indeed snow in Dallas Texas. This was one of the fastest weeks of my life! January is flying by. Honestly say that every week but I'm in a time warp haha. Here's the weekly info dump in condensed bullet point form because my time management is what we in the business call "not good". - We have a new friend named Jojo who is kind of a rough guy but he is so funny. He told me I looked like his friend named (and I quote) "Alec the Jew" and that's why he started talking to us in the first place. We love that guy. - It snowed on Sunday! I would've never guessed that that would happen. It was pretty legendary not going to lie. I've been missing the snow. - We got to talk to Klaus again yesterday because his self isolation is over, and it was one of our best meetings with him yet. It was incredible! The Spirit was so strong, and I...

A NEW YEAR

Image
Hey everyone! Honestly, this week was quite the ride. I appreciate all the prayers from everyone though! We just keep working out here in Texas, and that's all the Lord needs. Not a lot of big things happened though. We met with a lot of our friends, dropped one because he was mad that forgiveness is a thing, and we biked a ton haha. However, big things don't need to happen, because by SMALL AND SIMPLE THINGS ARE GREAT THINGS BROUGHT TO PASS! I am small and I am simple, and although I may not be an Abinadi or an Alma, I take great comfort in D&C 35:13. 13 Wherefore, I call upon the weak things of the world, those who are unlearned and despised, to thresh the nations by the power of my Spirit; THAT'S ME! So I'm just gonna keep on working, keep on having faith, and keep on being obedient like the Stripling Warriors. They blessing they got from their effort, faith, and obedience are found in Alma 56:56. 56 But behold, to my great joy, there had not one soul of the...

З Різдвом! -- (Merry Christmas!)

Hey everyone! I hope you all had an amazing Christmas! I know I did. Even though it was really different being on the mission, it was one of my favorites ever. I was playing some Christmas hymns on the piano on Christmas Eve and all of the sudden I was playing Silent Night and I felt like I was getting the biggest hug. Obviously no one was actually physically hugging me, but I'm 100% sure that spiritual hugs are a thing and that one came from Christ. It was one of my favorite experiences of the mission so far. Christmas day was super special too! Thank you thank you THANK YOU to everyone who sent me gifts! You guys are the best! I have the very best friends and family in the whole world. I don't know how I got blessed to know so many cool people, but my friends and family list is literally stacked. The rest of the week outside of Christmas was super awesome too. We taught some awesome lessons and we found some really cool new people who we're really excited about. We also f...

Hey everyone! Sorry, some stuff came up with a member needing a blessing and we had to get it all coordinated so I have no time! I'll just hit the highlights! - The institute manual convinced one of the Elders I lived with that dinosaurs are a hoax - New covid restrictions prevent us from being with missionaries we don't live with, which is a bummer! - I got a new comp! His name is Elder Ames and he's pretty cool! A little weird, but he's awesome. - Christmas time is the best time! Don't forget it! Everyone go read Alma 31 and pay attention to Alma's prayer at the end and what he prayed for and how God blessed him. Literally changed my whole outlook on missionary work. I love being a missionary! There's nothing I'd rather be doing. I love you all and I'm so grateful for your prayers. Keep Christ in your thoughts! Read Luke 2! - Elder Horsley 1-2) Elder Ames, the living legend 3) See ya elder Jensen! 4) Meme

My Guy Rodney Has Got Some Teardrops

Image
HEY EVERYONE! This week flew by! I guess I say that every time but it flies by every time and then at the end of each week I'm like "what the heck that lasted 5 minutes". I guess that's just how time goes out here. Oh well, what can you do. Time for the weekly info dump haha! 1) We met a super cool guy named Rodney this week. He's got 4 teardrops under his eyes and tattoos all over his face. The goal this week? Get a photo with him. He's so awesome! We met with him and his wife on Tuesday and they are so ready for the Gospel! Please be praying for them! They're awesome! 2) Our man Klaus is making progress! He didn't come to church this week, but we had an awesome lesson with him. We shared the Christ Child video with him, and it was so powerful. If you haven't seen it yet, GO WATCH IT! It's been my favorite part of the Christmas season so far. 3) I got to go on another exchange with Elder Jensen this week! LET'S GO! He's such a beast. N...
