Your awesome sone
Br. and Sister Horsley,
I want to take a few minutes and write you and express the love I feel for your son who is serving in our mission. His example of service and love of the Savior literally permeates the surroundings wherever he is.
My wife and I serve as YSA missionaries here as well as the Financial Secretary. From the minute I met your son at the airport I knew he was someone very special. That knowledge has only grown in the weeks since he has been here. May I share a quick example.
Last Sunday was Fast Meeting in our Branch (we serve in the same branch where he is). There was a man who, I assume, was visiting. This brother spoke no German and yet he stood up to share his testimony. As if on cue, Elder Horsley jumped up and went to the pulpit to translate for him. Now, I know I’m not telling you anything, but Elder Horsley has only been in Germany 10 weeks….and he had received no German language training at the MTC. We, in that small branch witnessed that beautiful morning a true manifestation of the gift of tongues. There is no way he should have been able to translate for this brother, and yet he did. Was it perfect translations…absolutely not. But the Spirit bore witness to me that morning that I was where a miracle had just happened.
Thank you for sharing your son with us at this time. His mission has definitely been an adventure, and it will be the basis of a long life of dedicated humble service to us as members of the church, and more importantly to Jesus Christ.
I shared this morning a post on Facebook with a picture of your son’s shoes. I took this picture without his knowledge but it means so much to me because it represents who he is, a servant of his Lord and Savior who is wearing out his soles as he brings souls to Christ.
I love Elder Horsley as if he were my Grandson.
May God bless you and your family for the sacrifices you make for him to be a missionary.
With warm regards
Bart Kunz
